NPP sanctions discriminatory – Ohene Ntow

Former General Secretary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party Nana Ohene Ntow has said recent developments in the party creates the impression that people perceived to be loyal to former President John Kufuor are being persecuted.

In his view, the recent spate of suspensions that have hit the party appear to be directed towards factional lines than objective and legal lines.

“I have no doubt in my mind that developments have been clearly towed along pro-Kufuor and pro-Akufo-Addo lines…discipline appear to be meted out in a discriminatory manner. They have been more on factional lines than objective, legal and constitutional lines,” he told Accra-based Joy FM Friday.

The comments come on the back of the suspension of the General Secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyepong and the Second Vice-chair Sammy Crabbe by the National Executive Committee, Thursday. Their suspension follows the indefinite suspension of the party’s national chair Paul Afoko who was accused of acting against the interest of the party. Afoko is fighting his suspension in court.

Meanwhile, Crabbe has told Morning Starr that he does not recognize his suspension by the party.

“The committee that met yesterday was not properly constituted, the disciplinary committee didn’t have jurisdiction. I will continue to serve and act as the second vice chair of the party and if any extremist try to frustrate me in performing my duty, I shall take them on physically,” he told Nii Arday Clegg Friday.
