‘I was voted as Igbo King’-Igbo King in Ghana

The beleaguered Eze Igbo king of Ghana, Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu has debunked claims by his tribesmen that he is not a legitimate leader of the Igbo community in Ghana.

According to Dr. Ihenetu, the false allegations are peddled by aggrieved minority Nigerian Igbos who want to tarnish his reputation.

A cross section of Nigerian Igbo residents in Ghana yesterday Wednesday, denounced their ‘King’, and accused him of being an imposter.

Paying a courtesy on the Ashanti Region, Otumfuo Osei Tutu at his palace in Kumasi, the Eze Igbo of Ghana, told Journalists that the minority Igbos are agitated because he was crowned against their will.

‘In every twelve people, there must be a Judas; there are some Igbo members here in Ashanti Region saying in the media that they are not interested in anything that concerns Kingship. You cannot have 100% people at a time, you must have majority that make you a winner or leader. Sometimes you see one person trying to cause problems for a group that is exactly what we saw yesterday from two or three people, saying they are not in support of my Kingship,’ he noted.

He claimed that he contested keenly to become King of Nigerian Igbo residents in Ghana.

‘It just like politics, everybody cannot be part of it, I was voted by my people here in Ghana and I won the election and became the King of Igbo community in Ghana,’ he indicated.

He said he is working tirelessly to unite Nigerian residents with their host nation.

‘We don’t want to know if their opinions are good or not, all we want to do is to project unity, peace, oneness, because we believe that Igbos are one people,’ he stated.
