Court annuls Klottey Korley NPP primary

The Klottey Korle constituency primary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party has been annulled, the constituency organiser of the party Daniel Odei Appiah has confirmed to StarrFMonline.com.

An Accra High court made the ruling Tuesday after the party failed to enter an appearance following a suit brought against it over the conduct of the elections.

A failed parliamentary aspirant Philip Addison sued the party over what he says was massive irregularities that marred the ballot that led to his defeat. He was supported in the suit by another aspirant Nii Adjei Tawiah who was also defeated in the August 2 primary of the NPP.

They also challenged the credibility of the register that was used for the polls.

The development means that the party’s candidate-elect Nii Noi can no longer legitimately hold himself out as the representative of the party going to the 2016 elections.
