‘No’ voters are my supporters – George Boateng

Failed Presidential aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. George Boateng says the 61,836 persons who voted ‘No’ representing 4.90% against the second-term candidature of President John Dramani Mahama are his supporters.

He says the president’s leadership style has been characterized by widespread corruption; inefficiency and mismanagement which is why many are not keen on seeing him as the torch bearer of the party in 2016.

“I knew it will get to this because many people see the president as underperforming,” he said.

Speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Prince Minkah, Mr. Boateng said he sees a bleak future for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2016 General Elections.

“Bad, policies, high cost of living, failed school feeding programme, dumsor and many others are affecting us, and I am not sure the NDC can win the 2016 elections”, he said.

Though he says he is not disappointed he was kicked out of the race technically, he has vowed to campaign against the NDC in the 2016 elections because he cannot side with a party that has taken Ghanaians for granted.

“The No voters have spoken, and it means the President is not liked by all members of the NDC,” he reiterated.

According to him, the only way for the NDC party to rejuvenate itself is to lose the 2016 elections and allow better persons to take over the helm of affairs.

“Let no one doubt my membership in the NDC party. I am a revolutionary and have been with the party since 1992, but I am disheartened by what is going on. I deserve to speak the truth and that is it,” he emphasized.
