About two million members of the ruling National Democratic Congress are today, Saturday November 21, going to the polls to elect their presidential and parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections.

The voting is being held in 274 out of the 275 constituencies across the country. It will be done in 8,234 polling centers across board.

This is the first time the umbrella family is voting with a biometric register with a newly adopted universal suffrage pattern of election.

A total of 728 aspirants are contesting in today’s primaries with 74 of them being women.

President John Mahama who is contesting unopposed is expected to receive an overwhelming endorsement by the members of the party. His endorsement will be announced by the chairperson of the electoral commission Charlotte Osei.
