Akufo-Addo condemns France attacks

Leader of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has joined the world in condemning Friday’s terror attacks in Paris with a call on world leaders to stand up against all forms of atrocities.

“I wish to condemn, unreservedly, these insane and cowardly acts. No religion or ideology justifies the killing of innocent people, and the world must stand up together against all the atrocities that go on around the world in a twisted understanding of religion or ideology,” he stated in a series of tweets to France President, François Hollande.

He said he received the news of the attack that has left at least 120 people dead with utter shock and sadness,” and expressed sympathy to the families of the dead and the injured.

“President François Hollande and the French people need to be assured with deeds, not just words, that the world stands with France and stands ready to support them in the necessary fight against such evil” he concluded.

Gunmen and bombers attacked restaurants, a concert hall and a sports stadium at locations across Paris on Friday, killing at least 120 people in a deadly rampage that a shaken President Francois Hollande called an unprecedented terrorist attack, Reuters reported

Some 40 more people were killed in five other attacks in the Paris region, including an apparent double suicide bombing outside the Stade de France national stadium, where Hollande and the German foreign minister were watching a friendly soccer international. Some 200 people were injured.

The coordinated assault came as France, a founder member of the U.S.-led coalition waging air strikes against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, was on high alert for terrorist attacks ahead of a global climate conference due to open later this month.
