CBO demonstrates use of female and male condoms

Mehame (B/A), Aug 1, GNA – Comrades of AIDS Combat, a Community-based Organization (CBO) at Mehame in the Asutifi District of Brong Ahafo, has held a forum to demonstrate condom use to the people. Five hundred male and female condoms were also distributed freely to encourage the use of condom among the youth and adults who cannot abstain from casual sex.

Addressing the forum, Nana Owusu Kontor, Chief of the town, appealed to the youth to submit themselves to voluntary medical test to ascertain their HIV status.

Nana Kontor attributed indiscriminate sex among the youth to pampering and lack of parental control and expressed concern about the rate at which school children were found loitering in town during classes and odd hours when they were supposed to be studying.

Nana Kontor lauded the government’s commitment to the fight against AIDS and expressed the hope that the proliferation of HIV oriented non-governmental and community-based organizations would succeed in minimizing the spread of the pandemic.

The Chairman of Comrades of Aids Combat, Mr Kwabena Anane said the CBO had drawn up house-to-house and other outreach programmes to disseminate information on the pandemic.

He said the CBO had in stock male and female condoms for sale at the reduced price of 100 cedis each.
