Delegates to ECOWAS Summit depart

Accra, July 31, GNA – President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and President Gnassingbe Eyadama of Togo left Accra on Thursday after attending an extraordinary summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Mr Lamine Sidime, Prime Minister of Guinea; Madam Isatou Njie-Saidy, Vice President of The Gambia; Mr Bruno Amoussuo, Minister of State in Charge of Unification, Prospecting and Development of Benin and Mr Youssouf Ouedraogo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation of Burkina Faso, who represented their countries at summit, have also left.

The ECOWAS Chairman, President John Agyekum Kufuor convened the meeting to discuss the deployment of troops to Liberia and the funding of the mission.
