Institutions urged to sustain environmental cleanliness

The Waste Department of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has distributed over 240 dust bins to government institutions as a measure to ensure improved sanitation and environmental cleanliness.

Mr. John Goker-Miah, Head of the Department said sanitation continues to be a challenge in the metropolis, notwithstanding the health related diseases associated with it.

He called for attitudinal change among the populace to ensure sanity, adding that, he was not happy with the haphazard disposal of waste products which is gradually defacing the beauty of the metropolis.

Mr. Goker- Miah entreated the beneficiary institutions to register with waste collection companies for prompt disposal of refuse.

Superintendent Constance Dokumah of the Ghana Police Service, on behalf of the institutions, lauded government’s efforts at ensuring cleaner societies and called for massive support for the monthly clean up exercise to rid the country of filth.
