Gov’t praised for extending power

The chiefs and people of Galgu have commended the Government for extending the Rural Electrification Power to Galgu, Bini and Gbambaya communities in the Yendi Municipality.

They have appealed for the extension of electricity to Pansiya and Kpatogu, since that will go a long way to improve the living standards of the people.

Naa Yaba Galgu Lana Kasim Ziblim Norgah made the commendation when he and his elders visited the communities connected to the national grid.

Naa Yaba Galgu Lana Kasim Ziblim said the people of Galgu, Bini and Gbambaya were very grateful to the Government and the District Assembly.

He said when the communities were connected to the national grid, it would help boost their economic activities.

Naa Yaba Galgu Lana said women in the area would also use their refrigerators to sell ice water to generate funds to support their children’s education

Naa Kassim Ziblim said the children would also use the electricity to study in the night.

He said one of their major problems was water, and appealed to the Assembly and the Rural Water Development Programme of the Church of Christ to drill bore holes for the area.

He appealed to the Assembly, Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, to establish a CHPS Compound at Galgu to help the residents’ access medical services.

He advised the people to pay their electricity bills promptly and avoid illegal connections.
