Muslim pilgrims who performed this year’s Hajj in Mecca have started returning home.
More than 850 pilgrims have returned so far in two separate flights.
AL haji Mohammed Kassim, a member of the National Hajj Committee, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview, that the first batch, numbering more than 400, arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday.
The second flight which carried more than 450 pilgrims, also arrived at the KIA on Tuesday afternoon.
Alhaji Kassim said the National Hajj Committee had taken firm measures to ensure that returning pilgrims did not suffer any difficulties upon arrival.
“We ensure that their luggage get to them without any stress upon arrival,” he said.
Alhaji Kassim said the pilgrims were driven in buses to the Hajj Village, soon after arrival at the KIA, where they were processed and assisted to have a smooth trip back to their various destinations.
He said there had been no difficulties with the return trips so far..“We are expecting 10 more flights to bring in 10 batches of pilgrims”.
He said a flight was supposed to carry in an average of 400 pilgrims every day for 10 continuous days, adding, “We expect to bring in all the returning pilgrims within two weeks.”
