Assin Homaho gets GHc 70,000.00 CHPS Compound

A GHc 70,000.00 Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound built at Homaho, a deprived rural community in the Assin-South District to provide the people with access to quality healthcare has been inaugurated in a ceremony.

The project was funded by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Professor Dominic Kwaku Fobi.

He said it was meant to end the situation where the sick in the predominantly farming community with a population of about 2,500 had to travel long distances to seek medical treatment.

He encouraged the people, especially pregnant women to patronize the facility to prevent maternal deaths.

The MP pledged to work together with the Health Ministry to adequately equip the CHPS Compound for efficient service delivery.

Dr. Ebenezer Koomson, the District Health Director, said he was excited that the project had been successfully completed and appealed for the construction of residential accommodation for the health professionals posted there.

Nurses and the midwives working at the facility, make daily round trip of about nine kilometres because of the lack of accommodation, and he said that was not the helpful.

He gave the assurance that the facility would be providing a 24-hour service to the people.
