Prince Bagnaba Mba, President of the Forum for National Equity, has advocated a national institute of policy and strategic studies, where civil and public servants would receive national orientation about the effective implementation of policies.
He noted that such an institute would facilitate the provision of clear cut policy decisions on important sectors such as the economy and also serve as a think tank on national issues such as foreign affairs and protection of the environment.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, he took a swipe at the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), saying the use of the word accelerated in carving out the authority was suggestive of speedy development although the reality on the ground is the opposite.
He said SADA should be backed by an affirmative action in order to fast track the efforts at alleviating poverty in the north, which according to Ghana Statistical Services is on the rise.
Mr Mba called for a well spelt out marshal plan for the Northern, Upper East and Upper East regions to indicate the budgetary allocations to be given to SADA every year to meet its objectives.
“The nation should not joke with the development disparity in the Savannah as it a drawback to national development,” he said.
