Mahama could perform with a ‘better team’ – Zanetor Rawlings

Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, who is contesting the Klottey Korle National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries, said President John Dramani Mahama can perform better with “a better team.”

Pushed to rate the performance of the Mahama-led administration, Dr Zanetor opined to Accra-based Citi FM: “I am in the party to do what I can to help. The party was formed on certain principles. Not everyone is living by those principles or performing by those principles.”

Her comments did not go down well with a section of the party who claim she is nurturing an agenda together with her mother, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings – who fell out with the NDC – to use the back door to wrestle power from the current leadership of the ruling party by sending Zanetor to Parliament.

She noted in the interview: “You have a team who make it possible. He could do with a better team. This is why I am coming on board. You are only as strong as your weakest link”.

When asked if her mother agrees with her decision to ride on the ticket of the NDC to Parliament since she campaigned against the party in the last general elections, she said “she supports my decision… she is politically savvy. I am her daughter and at the end of the day she is my mum.”

When asked if her mother was wrong in supporting Nana Akufo-Addo against President Mahama in the last elections, Dr Zanetor giggled and said: “I see what you are doing … you promised me headlines. That’s what you are trying to do”, referring to the host of the programme, Richard Sky.
