Tamale Baby thief fined

A Tamale District Magistrate Court 2 presided over by His Lordship Justice Augustine Essah has convicted 38-year-old Vida Golomesio to a fine of GH¢480.00 or in default spend two years in prison.

Relations of the suspect who were in court today, quickly paid the fine in order to free the suspect who has been in police detention close to a fortnight .

Parents of the stolen baby boy were also in court to listen to the verdict handed to Vida Golomesio who looked remorseful as the judgment was read.

The 38-year-old it would be recalled, was arrested by residents of a farming community at Karaga for stealing a two-day-old baby boy belonging to one Limah Addo at the Tamale West Hospital.

The 27-year-old who had just delivered at the hospital was looking for a taxi cab home when the suspect surfaced and under the guise of helping, stole the baby.

She was taken to the Chief’s palace and later handed over to the police who charged her for the offence and arraigned her before the District Magistrate Court where she was pronounced guilty on her own plea.
