Journalists in the Western region are angry with Presidential Staffer Stan Dogbe over his comments on the accident that occurred in Takoradi Monday evening.
Two journalists sustained severe injuries when the vehicle they were using to cover President John Mahama’s tour of the Western region was involved in an accident.
But Presidential staffer, Stan Dogbe on his Facebook page launched a scathing attack on media houses who reported that the journalists were traveling in the Presidential convoy.
“There has been no accident involving the Flagstaff House Press Corps or any vehicle from the Flagstaff House in the Western Region.
“The team with the President on his ?#?Changinglives? tour of the Western Region has long arrived in the Central Region.
“At least, as leader of the Communications Team on this trip, none of the media houses engaged in this irresponsible reports have contacted me or the Minister for Communications, Edward Omane Boamah to verify the story,” Dogbe wrote.
The comments have angered journalists in the region who have described the presidential staffer’s posturing on the matter as unfortunate.
The regional President for the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Moses Aklorbeto told Starr News they are offended by the comments.
“We deserve some kind of respect. We didn’t just gatecrash, we were working and we were invited to cover the programme.
“If nothing at all, they could admit that there was an accident but it did not involve the Presidential press corps and that it was misreported. If they will not console us, they should just leave the matter there and not respond in that manner. The Presidency needs us and we need them too and we think the comment by the Presidential staffer is unfair,” he stated.
