Ms Beatrice Amui, National President of the Women Missionary Union (WMU) of the Ghana Baptists Convention (GBC), has appealed to Christian women to be actively involved in evangelisation to win more souls for Christ.
She said women by their nature could convince more people to change their lifestyles and commit themselves towards working to seek the Kingdom of God.
Ms Amui made the appeal in Tamale at the weekend during a special thanksgiving service for Deaconess Mrs Samata Imoro of the Kanvili Baptist Church in Tamale, who had been elected as the National Vice President of WMU.
The special thanksgiving service became necessary because it was the first time someone from the northern sector of the Baptist Church had been elected to occupy such a position in the history of GBC.
Ms Amui commended Deaconess Mrs Imoro for the position and advised her to work hard to help empower more women to justify the confidence reposed in her.
She said there is need for women of the church all over the country to work towards ensuring the growth of local churches so that pastors who are manning those missions could enjoy their work.
Deaconess Mrs Imoro appealed for support from both women and men of the church to enable her to succeed.
She gave the assurance that she would work to justify the confidence reposed in her.
She said she would work in collaboration with all in the church to bring hope to women all over the country.
Mrs Imoro said women empowerment is top in her agenda to win more souls for Christ.
She thanked members of the church for the incessant prayers and appealed to them to continue to offer more prayers to ensure that she did not disappoint women in the church especially those in the northern sector.
Reverend Mrs Sanatu Nantogmah, former Country Director of the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, who chaired the function expressed the need for dedication to the work of God to seek the kingdom of God.
She described Deaconess Samata’s ascending to the high office as a challenge for her to work harder than before saying, “You are now seen as the mother of all. This is the time you need more prayers than before because you are now seen as a role module, and you need to continue to live righteous life worth emulating”.
She advised other women in the church to aspire towards occupying positions not only in the church but wherever they find themselves as means of contributing their quota towards nation building.
