Christians must lead good lives – Priest

Reverend Edmund Mensah Tetteh of All Saints Anglican Church in Accra, has urged Christians to uphold the value of discipline and decency as the path to success.

He expressed surprised that Christians now engaged in lawlessness, disrespect, cutting corners and sexual immorality with impunity rather than religious activities that mould character for good purposes.

Rev Tetteh was speaking during the ordination of Rev Cyril Yeboah Otoo and a Deacon, Francis Amoah Boadu at the Saint Mary’s Anglican Church in Accra.

He said people hide to do bad things and later find themselves in the churches, adding that: “It is too common these days to find two men who have left their wives at home fighting over a woman in the churches.”

Rev Tetteh said: “Going to church is an ordinary social event to Christians nowadays and what happens in the church is not their concern.

He called on Christians to honour and sacrifice themselves to God’s work and He would in turn pay them for the glorification of His name which would also serves as a blessing more gracious than to receive.

Rev Tetteh said: “If the Holy Spirit is not present in you as a member of the church you are spiritually dead because it gives Christians power to bear the fruits of the spirit. We are to be led by the Holy Spirit in order to bear fruits to the glory of God.

“Let’s cast our mind back to achievements made by people who led good lives so that we can join hands and support the process of national development,” he said.

Rev Tetteh asked Christians to offer themselves to Christ and live exemplary lives of love, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.
