Police nab another suspected female drug peddler

The police have arrested a 35-year-old suspected drug peddler, seizing from her, seven big parcels of dried leaves believed to be cannabis.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Osei Ampofo-Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, gave her name as Adwoa Atenee.

This came barely a week after another woman transporting large quantity of similar stuff, on a Metro Mass Transit bus – traveling from Sunyani to the mining town of Obuasi, had been nabbed.

ACP Ampofo-Duku told a news briefing that Atenee was arrested at Tarkwa-Maakro in Kumasi based upon a tip off.

She attempted to flee on seeing the police officers approach but she was prevented and a search of her room uncovered the dried substance wrapped in brown envelopes and black polythene bags.

Also seized from her, were 87 sachets of alcoholic beverage mixed with dried leaves.

ACP Ampofo-Duku said the man believed to have supplied the suspected drug to Atenee, has also been arrested and being held by the Kumasi Central Police Station.

Kwame Azure, 23, was caught in the same community, he said, adding that, they were now looking for one Dan Kuor alias “Boozen”, an accomplice.

The suspects would be put before court when the police finish with their investigations.
