Ghana Showcased in Namibia

Students of the University of Namibia (UNAM), last week, showcased Ghana, with thirty other countries, at the Annual Food and Cultural Extravaganza of Students of Management of UNAM. This major event on the calendar of UNAM is aimed at highlighting other cultures and traditions through music, cuisine and dancing. This colourful event took place at the Gym Hall on UMAN main campus in Windhoek and attracted not only the student population but members of the Diplomatic Corps and the general public.
The Ghana High Commission in Windhoek provided Team Ghana with the necessary props and took them through lessons in the preparation of Ghanaian foods which were showcased as part of the presentation: these included jollof rice, rice balls with groundnut soup, tuo zafi with a modified ayoyo soup, and Zongo-style ginger beer.
Around the same time, the Namibian International Trade Fair was taking place at the Windhoek Fair Ground and three (3) Ghanaian companies participated. They exhibited clothes, beads, artefacts, cocoa products and body creams. Ghanaian products are in much demand in Namibia, especially clothes, shea butter and cocoa products.
The companies that participated were Markwills Garments, Ghana Beads & Dresses and Chocho Industries, represented by their proprietors, Mr. Nelson Baah-Williams, Mr. Kudjo Owusu and Mr. Habib Suleman respectively…
