Help provide Youth with employable skills

The Church has been asked to put premium on assisting the Youth to acquire employable skills to become economically self-supporting.

The Reverend Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Founder of Christ our King Church, said that was the way to prevent the Youth from going down the path to self-destruction.

He said there could not be any doubt that when people were engaged in productive ventures, they would have no appetite to engage in crime and other reckless acts.

He was delivering the sermon at a special service held at Sewua in the Bosomtwe District to mark the church’s annual “Youth Day” celebrations.

The Rev Adu-Gyamfi said the church must be interested in matters relating to the growth and development of the Youth, pointing out that this was necessary to assure the society of responsible future leaders.

It must, therefore, find space to adequately engage them to protect them from peer pressure influence.

He encouraged the setting up of more community vocational and technical schools, to train out-of-school young men and women in various vocations and trades.

He announced a decision by the church to train adolescents who had dropped out of school in dress-making, carpentry, masonry and grass-cutter rearing.

The Rev Adu-Gyamfi counseled the Youth to value hard work, discipline and integrity, and said these were critical to success.

Madam Lawrencia Mensah, Leader of the Women’s Ministry, urged them to reject “wee smoking,” and other irresponsible lifestyles.
