Assembly presents cheques to disabled persons

The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly over the weekend presented cheques for an amount of GH?11, 395.00 out of a total of GH? 13, 321.31 to 21 members of the Ghana Federation of Physically Challenged in Dormaa – Ahenkro in the Brong – Ahafo Region.

The amount is to help improve on members businesses as well as their socio-economic status.

Presenting the cheques, Mr. Gordon Asubonteng, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, said since 2013, the assembly had consistently and constantly paid disabled persons out of its share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).

He said the rest of the fund would be channeled into the disability investment fund, to put up an office building and a workshop in Dormaa – Ahenkro to empower such persons with entrepreneurial skills.

The MCE expressed optimism that the members would use the money for its intended purpose.
