Six persons arrested by LaNMMA Sanitation Task force

A joint Task Force of the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) and the Madina Divisional Police Command on Tuesday night arrested six recalcitrant persons for dumping refuse indiscriminately on the Madina-Aburi Presidential Highway around 23:30 hours.

The LaNMMA Health Prosecutor Mr. Lambert Kwara, gave the names of the culprits

as Aquiah Tiweh, Amidu Salami, Stanley Ezugewu, Asi Nakia, Gina Peprah and Zulayatu Wydu.

Prosecuting, Mr. Kwara told the Madina Magistrates’ Court presided over by Pricilla Dapaah Mireku that, the accused persons were seen dumping refuse on the pavement of the Madina-Aburi Presidential Highway, despite several warnings.

Two of the accused person, Asi Nakina and Mr. Stanley Ezugewu were fined GH?72.00 each, according to the LaNMMA Sanitation Bye-Law, and would be imprisoned for two weeks if they fail to pay the fine.

Amidu Salami and Zulayatu Wydu, who pleaded not guilty, were asked to reappear on September 30 and October 7, 2015 respectively.

Gina Peprah and Aquiah Tiweh, who are under-aged, were cautioned and discharged.

In another development, a livestock owner, Mr Ibrahim Hayford,was also fined GH?180.00 by the same court for rearing cows at Redco, a residential area near Madina, or in default, faces three weeks imprisonment.
