Nana Addo will never be President – Mallam Issah

Former Sports Minister, Mallam Yusif Issah, has stated that God will never allow Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to become the President of Ghana.

“…He [Nana Addo] has done a very big disservice and injustice to Mallam Issah; an innocent person, and that alone, my God will never allow him [to be President].

“I believe in the God that I’m serving,” the MP aspirant for the Adentan constituency said in an interview on TV3 Wednesday.

Mallam Issah, then a member of the People’s National Convention, was appointed Sports Minister by former President Kufuor but was handed a four-year jail term in 2001 for his inability to account for 46,000 dollars cash meant for the Black Stars.

In July 2003, he was granted a Presidential pardon on grounds of ill-health.

He told Nana Aba Anamoah that his incarceration was an agenda by the NPP to use him as a scapegoat to prove to Ghanaians that the party was committed to pursuing its slogan of “zero tolerance for corruption”.

“If there was no agenda by them, we have all the State Attorneys who could have prosecuted but he opted to prosecute me and after my prosecution, he ceased prosecution”.

“Nobody in the history of Ghana has ever had a fast tracked trial like me. [Within] 70 days, I found myself in Nsawam Prison. So that alone in itself should be clear that something was happening somewhere”.

“He [Nana Akufo-Addo] should forget about this election, maybe somebody will lead the NPP to victory but not Nana Akufo-Addo. Look, he doesn’t like me, [and] I don’t like him!”
