Photos: ECOWAS restores peace in Burkina Faso

Following a week of political uproar in Burkina Faso caused by a coup d’etat by the elite President Guards (RSP), ECOWAS heads of state yesterday restored peace by re-instating Burkina’s interim President Michael Kafando back to power.

In an official handover ceremony on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Ouagadougou, Interim President Michel Kafando said, “during this ordeal, we have fought together and in freedom we triumph”.

Michael Kafando called for peace, open-mindedness and a spirit of compromise by all stakeholders.

The Associated Press also quotes him as saying “We are proud of the courageous Burkinabe people, in particular, our youth”.
