The twelfth and final batch of Muslim pilgrims have been flown from the Hajj village at the Kotoka International Airport(KIA), for the pilgrimage in Mecca.
The departure brings the number of pilgrims to have been ferried to the Holy Land to 5,424.
Alhaji Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Deputy Communications Director, Pilgrims Affairs Office, told the Ghana News Agency, that the last batch, which left on the 16th of this month, should have left earlier on 14th, but were delayed due to a few “hitches”.
The Hajj begins in Mecca on September 20th and ends on the 25th, Alhaji Amin said.
He added that the pilgrims would make their return back to Ghana,between the eighth and 19th of October, 2015.
This year’s Hajj saw a total of twelve flights, ferrying twelve batches of pilgrims to the Holy Land of Mecca, from the Hajj Village at the KIA.
The first batch of pilgrims was flown over on September 3rd, 2015.
