Judicial scandal: Media houses must tread cautiously – Lawyer

A private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has warned media houses to be circumspect in discussing the judicial corruption scandal by ace Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

His advice comes after moves by lawyers for the embattled High court judge Justice Paul Dery to stop Starr FM from further publishing information on the scandal.

Justice Dery has already filed a writ to stop investigative Anas from premiering the documentary on judges who took bribes to influence their judgments.

His lawyers are now threatening to cite Starr FM for contempt if it publishes news from the said video.

Anyenini told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg, the media should tread cautiously.

“Starr [FM] is not a party as far as these processes are concerned, you would act in good faith and it is your discretion to act in good faith”.

He added: “The best we can do is to ensure that there is a lot of transparency in this process either than that in the end we will not get the sanity that we need in the judiciary whose confidence the Chief Justice confirms is at its lowest ebb.

“Let’s isolate these judges who have misconducted themselves in a manner that we are aware of now and let them be dealt with now through due process”.
