AUCC to inaugurate Komla Dumor Centre

The African University College of Communications (AUCC) will inaugurate The Komla Dumor Centre of Broadcast Journalism on October 3, 2015.

The Centre is being established as a legacy journalism education project in memory of Komla Dumor, the guiding spirit and icon of African broadcast journalism.

According to a media notice from AUCC, “to give full expression to this legacy, the Centre will focus attention on the cultivation and growth of the next generation of leaders in the African/Global media.

“This will be accomplished by the eventual organization of academic programmes in broadcast journalism with an emphasis on television and radio, policy research in multimedia, and organising symposia for students, scholars and working professionals.

“Fundamental to all these is the commitment of the Centre to advancing excellence in the practice of journalism, and advancement of ethical standards.”

Dignitaries expected at the event includes the British High Commissioner to Ghana, the Mayor of London and representatives of the BBC.
