Right Reverend Ebenezer Abakah-Wilson, the Bishop of Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, has called on Christians to be holy and dedicated to the Lord as a sacrifice to expand His kingdom on earth.
Rt. Rev. Abakah-Wilson made the call at the Girls’ Fellowship 10th Connexional Biennial Conference, under the theme: “Upholding the Spirit of Self-giving as Witness to Christ and Holistic Spirituality,” held at Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Saltpond.
He said the Methodist Church was the first in the country to start girl-child education and it was committed to continue to support them to unearth their God- given talents to be productive and good ambassadors of Christ.
Ms Juliana Lillian Arthur, the Connextional Caretaker, said the Girls Fellowship should faithfully reflect on the theme and as young ladies of the church they must study the Holy Scriptures, preach salvation and forgiveness of sins.
“As Christian girls we cannot stay back when the fields are ready for harvest and we must witness and win souls for Christ, however there may be challenges while we are witnessing of which we should look up to Christ with whom all things are possible,” she said.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Nana Abekah, the Church Youth Ministry Director, said they must accept the challenge of offering themselves for Christ and His coming Kingdom.
“This is the time to take your destiny into your own hands and work to build a vibrant church, be the Methodist youth whose life is characterised by the mind of Christ, and always be ready to give for the good of neighbour, state and church,” he said.
Mr Kwame A. Boafo, the Church Lay President, in a message read on his behalf, said the Girls’ Fellowship was an important grooming ground for female leadership which called for the need to extricate themselves from traditional prejudices relegating them to the background.
He said the girls needed to know and be inspired by the examples of the famous women in the early church adding that they could not be disadvantaged in any way by their gender.
