Mother shot dead in Yeji

A 43-year-old mother of six, Mariam Mohammed has been shot dead at Katawra, a sub community of Yeji within the Pru District in the Brong Ahafo region.

According to the husband, Mohammed Muniru who is a fisherman at Yeji, the incident occurred around 7pm on Friday.

He said when he returned from his usual work, his wife served him dinner and when he was about to eat he heard a gunshot and instantly his wife started complaining about some pains on her breast.

He added that he immediately called for help and she was rushed to the St. Mathias hospital at Yeji where she was pronounced dead.

The man also sustained some injuries on his legs and is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

The District police commander DSP Abraham Bansah has revealed that investigations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the body has been released to Mariam’s family for burial per the Muslims tradition.
