Provide facilities at park – Wildlife Ranger

Bungase (B/A), July 17, GNA – Mr. Prince Anane-Agyei, Wildlife Ranger in-charge of the Bui National Park, on Wednesday appealed to the government to provide essential facilities to enhance the development of the park.

He said problems of the park needed immediate attention from the Ministry of Lands and Forestry to enable it to attract more tourists to boost revenue.

Mr. Anane-Agyei was speaking to newsmen at Bungase, near Bui in the Wenchi District during a visit by Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Regional Minister to interact with the people and to inspect the proposed Bui Dam site on the Black Volta.

He said the park with a staff of more than 100 faced accommodation problems. They are housed in temporary dilapidated Wooden structures built 41 years ago.

The park also needed more vehicles, as the only one was not road-worthy while the access road was in a deplorable state, which was affecting the number of tourists to the park and revenue. Nana Seinti advised the people at a durbar to guard against the setting of bush-fires, which could destroy the environment, including the park and farms and warned that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted.

He assured the farmers of the government’s preparedness to assist them with loans to enable them to expand their farms or engage in other profitable ventures.

They should however form co-operatives to benefit from the facility. The Regional Minister also visited Sabiye, Kabronu, Menji and Brohani.

He advised the people to take the education of their children seriously.

The communities complained about bad roads, lack of electricity and good drinking water.
