Mac-Manu calls on Agyepong, others to cease fire

Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac-Manu, is advising the General Secretary and Treasurer of the Party, Kwabena Agyepong and Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, to put an end to the rift between them.

He’s urged the duo to work together to ensure that the collective interest of the party is attained.

“It appears there is a rift between the Treasurer and the General Secretary. You don’t have to be friends to belong to one political party. There is the need to put their differences aside and ensure that they work towards the collective interest of the party. So, when they meet for party work, they should come together and ensure that collective interest of the party is achieved first. That is what I expect from them,” he noted in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Kasapa FM on Monday.

His comment was in response to the alleged diversion of party funds into a secret bank account at Ecobank, Ridge Towers Branch, Accra, where the party’s Treasurer, Abankwa Yeboah and the First Vice-Chairman, Freddie Blay, are reported to be operating the said account.

The secret bank account, Kasapafmonline.com understands, is allegedly being operated on the blind side of the other national officers of the party, especially the General Secretary and the National Chairman of the party, Paul Awentime Afoko.

On the same program, Kwabena Agyepong told Banson that he only got to the know about the existence of the said bank account at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on August 10, 2015.

But Mr. Abankwa Yeboah, who also spoke on the same issue on Kasapa FM said the party’s General Secretary could not deny having knowledge of the said account because he personally informed him through a notice he placed on his table.

Mr. Mac-Manu having listened to the two, believes that it was about time the duo put their differences aside and come together to ensure that their ultimate goal of wrestling power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is achieved.
