Police arrest two for attempting to buy human parts

Police in Sekondi have arrested two suspects for requesting to buy human parts from the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital Mortuary.

The suspects, John Kyei Quadoo, 30, and Alhassan Abubakar, 57, a herbalist, had been granted police enquiry bail to report at the police station periodically.

The Western Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Reuben Asiwoko, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency in Sekondi on Thursday.

He said on Friday, August 28, Quadoo, who resided at Ketan Estate near Sekondi, went to the hospital mortuary and told the attendant, one Christopher Dadzie, that he wanted to buy albino or whiteman’s hair and water used to bath corpses.

The mortuary attendant became alarmed and asked him to wait for some minutes and quickly informed the Head of the Hospital Mortuary, Mr Noah Ayisi.

Mr Ayisi then alerted the police and Quadoo was arrested.

He told the police in his caution statement that it was Alhassan Abubakar, a herbalist resident at Adiembra Ridge, near Sekondi, who sent him for the items to perform rituals.

The police, therefore, arrested Abubakar on the same day at his house and both suspects were placed in police custody and charged for offensive conduct.
