The Hajj Village at the Kotoka International Airport is busy with activities, in preparation for the arrival of Muslim Pilgrims, who would attend this year’s Hajj.
Facilities such as administrative structures as well as waiting rooms for pilgrims are ready.
Alhaji Mohammed Amin, Deputy Communications Director of the Pilgrims Affairs Office in Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency that the first batch of pilgrims were expected to leave the country on Thursday, September 3, by 1040 p.m.
“We are putting everything in place to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims, as well as the success of the entire pilgrimage.
“We are expecting a total number of 5424 pilgrims to travel from Ghana to the Holy City of Mecca this year,” he said.
Alhaji Amin said there would be a total of 12 flights for this years Hajj, “which means the pilgrims would be flown from Ghana to the Holy City in 12 batches”.
He said the last and final flight from Ghana to Mecca would be on September 14.
