Work begins on Klefe Volcation/Technical Institute

Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, Paramount Chief of Klefe Traditional area at the weekend cut the sod for commencement of work on the Klefe Community Vocational/Technical Institute.

The Institute is expected to feed the Ho Polytechnic, soon to be made a Technical University, with technical students.

Togbe Dzaga said it was unfortunate that Polytechnics in the country struggle in getting technical students but was hopeful that the challenge would soon be a thing of the past for the Ho Polytechnic.

He described Klefe as a “community of artisans” with skilful young people who needed to be helped to discover and polish their talents for academic progression and for the job market.

Togbe Dzaga underscored the importance of technical and vocational education to national development and advised parents to encourage their children to develop interest in that area.

Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho commended the community for the initiative and donated 100 bags of cement towards the project.

Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister reiterated government’s commitment to technical and vocational education and promised to link the Klefe Technical Vocational Institute to sister institutions abroad.

A total of 59 students started the school in a temporary structure with courses in building and construction and dressmaking among others.
