Accra Mayor picks form to contest NDC primaries

The Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije would pick nomination forms later this morning to contest the Ablekuma South parliamentary seat on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview with tv3network.com, the Mr. Vanderpuije who has been mayor for about 10 years said “I have monitored activities around the constituency for several years and I know what they need and I’m the right man to bring such leadership to the area.”

The mayor joins a growing list of government officials who have declared their intentions to go to parliament on the ticket of the NDC.

Edward Bawa, consultant at the energy ministry, John Jinapor, Deputy minister in charge of petroleum, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Fletcher, PRO of the Volta River Authority – VRA have all picked nomination forms to contest various constituencies.

Others include Dr. Clement Apark, a presidential staffer, Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC’s legal team just to mention a few.

The National Democratic Congress has set November 7, 2015 to hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries ahead of the 2016 elections.
