CHRAJ Techiman District office handled 279 cases in six months

Techiman (B/A), July 15, GNA- Techiman District Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) received 279 cases within the first six months of the year.

In a report signed by Mr. Kwaku Asante-Boateng, District Director, the Commission received 154 cases in the first quarter from January to March and 125 for the second quarter from April to June. Prevalent among cases for the first quarter were on maintenance of children, marriage and tenancy.

Others included unfair treatment, custody of children, estate matters, breach of contract, abuse of rights, salary arrears, violation of rights and interstate succession.

The report said the Commission settled 88 cases in the first quarter, dismissed 20 for lack of interest and lack of jurisdiction, while six were to be settled at home with 40 cases pending.

In the second quarter, the Commission settled 60 out of the 125 cases, while the remaining were dismissed for lack of interest and lack of jurisdiction, the report said.

The report appealed for adequate accommodation for the district office as well as a means of transport to effectively facilitate the work of the staff.
