Vacation classes organised for pupils around Madina

A free vacation classes organised for pupils around Madina have been climaxed with a durbar at the compound of the La-Nkwantanang Cluster of Schools in Madina.

The classes were organised by the Centre for Poverty Alleviation; and Value For Life, two non- governmental organisations11.

The occasion attracted pupils from the Nkwantanang Cluster of Schools, Adenta Experimental, Danfa Methodist Basic, Oyarifa Presby, Teiman Anglican and Pantang Presby Basic.

Mr Samuel Ablakwa Okudjeto, the Deputy Minister of Education, who was the Chairman for the occasion, congratulated the organisers of the event saying similar vacation classes would be organised in other regions of the country.

He said there is the need to add fieldwork and the creative arts to such classes to expose the pupils to new skills.

Mr Sosu, the Head of Centre for Poverty Alleviation, said it is in the best interest of the pupils that free holiday classes are organised adding that a component like the creative arts would enhance the productivity of the children.

Madam Gomashie, the Head of Value For Life and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts, said similar classes have been organized in Ho and expressed her appreciation to Uni-Bank, Indomie Company and the Special Ice Company who assisted in making the durbar a success.

Madam Claudia Turbay, the Colombian Ambassador, said she was grateful to be part of the programme adding that it would help support the efforts of the Government of Ghana.

Pupils who excelled in the free vacation examinations, received various prizes while facilitators and teachers received deserving certificates.

Donation was also made to participating schools and the audience were entertained with dance and poetry renditions.

Attendance at the durbar included Brigadier General Martin Ahiaglo, Deputy Director of National Lotteries, traditional rulers and parents of participating pupils.
