Caning in Ga West schools banned

Mr Daniel Budu Asiedu, the Education Director of Ga West in the Greater Accra Region, has banned canning in schools in the municipality.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Amasaman after paying visits to some schools in the area, Mr Budu Asiedu said using cane as a correctional tool do not help in teaching and learning.

He asked pupils to show respect to their teachers and also concentrate on their studies.

He called on teachers to be punctual at school and show love to the children whenever they go wrong for mutual respect to prevail in class.

Mr Budu Asiedu advised parents to pay their wards school fees promptly and provide their needs for them to stay in class to study whilst monitoring their activities during vacation periods.

He said parents should collaborate with teachers by visiting their children in schools to encourage them to learn to become responsible adults.

He said all hard working teachers in the municipality needed to be awarded by the Ghana Education Service to motivate them to continue to offer good services.
