Education and sanitation dominate campaign messages

Education development and environmental sanitation promotion, have become the central theme running through the campaign messages of candidates contesting the upcoming district level elections in the Asante-Akim South.

They seem to all agree that things would have to improve in the two sectors and are promising to do just that if given the mandate to represent their various communities at the assembly.

At the Juaso-Junction Electoral Area for example, four out of the five people, who had put themselves out for election, vowed to make sure that substantial resources are channeled into these areas, when they mounted a platform provided by the Electoral Commission to put their messages across to voters.

Mohammed Fatao, Ibrahim Yahaya, Amadu Sumaila and Richard Dortsu, said they would do everything to lift education and sanitation, when they took turns to tell the people, why they should give their votes to them.

They criticised the immediate-past assembly member, Khadijah Musah, who was not present, for under-performing and called on the electorate to vote him down.

Answering questions from the gathering, they individually promised to be transparent and accountable.

They would give it their all to transform the living conditions of the people in the electoral area.

The aspirants expressed disappointment at the poor patronage of the event by the people and appealed to them to overcome the apathy towards the assembly and unit committee elections, to be held across the country on Tuesday, September 1.
