Ghana Education Service Orders Tema Sec Headmaster To Quit Bungalow

Tema,(Greater Accra) 20 Oct. The Ghana education service (GES) has ordered Mr. Abednego Agyepong, former headmaster of Tema secondary school (TEMASCO) to leave his bungalow by 6 p.m. today in his own interest. A source close to the GES headquarters in Accra told the GNA that Mr. Agyepong has been served with a letter to comment on charges of drunkeness, absence from duty without any excuse and getting drunk while on duty against him. He has been given up to the end of this month to send his comments in writing to the director-general of GES. Efforts by GNA to talk to the headmaster in his bungalow proved fiasco because he was not there on the two occasions that we called. Mrs. Akosua Adu, acting headmistress of the school who could not confirm or deny the quit order said she had called the former headmaster on his telephone but did not get him to talk. On the re-opening of the school after an extended mid-term holidays which ended today, Mrs. Adu told newsmen that the students have started reporting back to school. She explained that the issue of bond which the students are expected to sign to be of good behaviour, will be explained to them before they (students) append their signatures saying there is absolute peace on the campus. The removal of the former headmaster created insecurity, which resulted in arson by some unknown students and led to the temporary closure of the school for 10 days.
