Nuamah will have befitting burial – NTC

Ms Carol Annang, Managing Director, New Times Corporation (NTC), Monday said the late Samuel Nuamah, former Presidential Reporter would be given a “befitting” burial.

Mr Nuamah died on the spot when a vehicle conveying Presidential press corps from an assignment in Ho to Accra was involved in an accident at Shai Hills last Thursday.

Sixteen other journalists and the driver of the vehicle sustained various degrees of injuries, with six journalists still receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

Mrs Annang said it was unfortunate that Nuamah died in the line of duty and hinted that the Corporation is working with the bereaved family and government for a suitable burial.

She gave the hint when Madam Helen Adzoa Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister visited offices of Ghanaian Times in the company of Regional Executives of Ghana Journalists Association and National Democratic Congress Party communicators to commiserate with management and staff on the demise of Nuamah.

Ms Annang said Nuamah was a gift to the Corporation and the bereaved family and that his death was a “painful blow” to all.

She said management and staff are only keeping heads up to keep others strong and called for support for the celebration of his life and hard work.

Madam Ntoso said: “The demise of Nuamah is sad and painful but we have consolation that he is resting in peace.”

She signed a book of condolence, which was opened in the newsroom of the Ghanaian Times.

Madam Ntoso later visited the residence of Nuamah and presented 10 cartons of bottled water and eight crates of assorted drinks to the bereaved family.

Agya Atta, Head of the bereaved family expressed gratitude to Madam Ntoso and said a week’s celebration of the demise of Nuamah would be marked on Saturday, August 29.

The Regional Minister and her team also visited the six journalists who were still receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
