Ejisu-Besease gets community library

Besease (Ash), July 14, GNA- A 35-million-cedis community library has been inaugurated at Besease in the Ejisu-Juaben District.

The project, initiated by the community with the support from the District Assembly, aimed at inculcating in school children, reading as a means of improving education in the community.

Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, appealed to chiefs to pursue measures and initiatives that would help improve the living conditions of the people.

He also urged parents to show greater concern in the education of their children to enable them attain higher academic laurels. Dr Baffour Agyeman-Duah, Associate Director of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), also advised parents to show keen interest in their children’s education.

Dr Agyeman-Duah, a citizen of the town, announced the establishment of an education fund “Afua Sarpong Education Trust”, to provide scholarship to pupils in the town.

He said the fund, named after his mother, would offer financial assistance to 10 pupils including five girls from primary schools in the town this year.
