Travel Agent Before Court For Stealing

Accra,(Greater Accra) 21 Oct. A man who allegedly stole 8,692 dollars belonging to a travelling agency has been arraigned at an Accra circuit tribunal charged with stealing. Kweku Adjei Yiadom, former general manager of Johnson Travel Tour, Accra, pleaded not guilty and was granted 10 million cedis bail to reappear on November four. Police chief inspector Edward Charles Antwi, told the tribunal chaired by Mr. Charles Quist, that in August, this year, Mr. Joseph S. Tombula, a teacher of the Police college primary school held discussions with Yiadom, about 26 members of the Ghana Scout Association who wanted to travel to London. The prosecutor said Yiadom collected a total of 15,900 dollars for 26 air tickets but credited the company with 7,855 dollars and pocketed 8,692 dollars. According to the prosecution, the company issued only 19 out of the 26 tickets because Yiadom could not refund the 8,692 dollars to cover the remaining seven. When he failed to honour a promise to refund the amount, he was arrested on August 22.
