The Association of Journalists for Peace and Security in West Africa, key partners, will also attend the conference, which will also serve as an opportunity to access its role and progress, its constitution as well as renew its leadership for its future operations.

The WAANSA conference, slated for September 3 and 4, on the theme: “Peace and Security in West Africa: The Role of Civil Society,” will be addressed by the ECOWAS Commissioner for Peace and Security to share with civil society the state of affairs regarding peace and security of West Africa.

In a statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, signed by Mr Baffour D. Amoa WAANSA President, said civil society plays critical role in the ECOWAS Peace and Security Architecture.

According to the statement, the conference will also provide a platform for representatives of National Commission on Small A (NATCOM) to dialogue with CSOs and review relationship established under the ECOWAS Convention.
