Photos: Samuel Nuamah’s death; Ghana’s loss

A Ghanaian Times reporter, Samuel Nuamah , attached to the Presidential press corps, yesterday afternoon died on the spot when the convoy carrying them, involved in an accident at Shai Hills on the Tema – Akosombo Highway.

Samuel Nuamah was said to have fallen off the GMC Savanna Ford bus with registration number GB 506-12, on which they were travelling, and landed on the road.

The journalists were returning from Ho in the Volta Region to Accra after covering the President who delivered a speech at the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church convention.

Members of the Presidential Press Corps were said to be in two buses and the second bus, which was the Ford, veered off the road, somersaulted and landed in a nearby bush as a result of a tyre bust.

Three others, Pascaline Adadevoh of GBC, Napoleon Ato Kittoe of GTV, Patrick Bida are responding to treatment at the 37 Millitary Hospital but Peace FM’s William Gyentu is said to be in a critical condition.

Meanwhile President John Dramani Mahama and Julius Debrah (Chief of Staff) on Thursday evening visited the injured presidential press corps members at the 37 military hospital.

An editor at Ghanaian Times, Mr Agbenu has described the loss of their colleague as a big blow to the company.

“He was a gem; he was flawless and dedicated to his work. It is a big blow to the newspaper. I cannot find words to describe it, it is a real blow”, he added.
