DCE commissions school block at Nsuhia

Nsuhia (B/A), July 13, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, at the weekend commissioned a block of three classrooms, office and store and a KVIP toilet for the Roman Catholic Primary School at Nsuhia.

The project was funded under the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Relief Fund.

Mr. Duku stressed that since the government alone could not provide all the needs of the people, it was imperative for communities to initiate developmental programmes to win the support of the assemblies and the government.

He said in line with the Assembly’s aim to promote education in the district, schools would be provided with classroom blocks and other facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Duku appealed to parents and guardians to reciprocate the gesture of the government and give quality education to their wards to enable them to become responsible citizens “who can contribute positively to the development of the country.”

He commended a Dormaa-Ahenkro based contractor, Jeopardise Trading Enterprise, who executed the project for a good job done. Mr. Alex Yaw Aboagye, Assistant Director of Education, commended the improved performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), noting that the district obtained 63.9 percent in 2002 as compared to 42 percent in 2001.

He appealed to parents and guardians to consider education as a good investment and provide their children and wards with their basic needs.

Mr. Ramseyer Osei-Gyabaah, Assembly Member in a welcoming address thanked the government for providing the community with the facilities, which he said would enhance effective teaching and learning. He expressed the hope that the Assembly would provide an additional block of three classrooms for the school and rehabilitate the Methodist Primary School, which he said was in a deplorable state. Nana Twumasi Asare, chief of the town, who presided, gave assurance that the community would ensure the regular maintenance of the facilities.
