Senior High and Technical School students have been urged to take their studies seriously and avoid re-writing papers, to make up grades to qualify them for admission into tertiary institutions.
Mr. Nuhu Issahaku Putiaha, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, said students needed good grades to qualify for admission into tertiary institutions, complete their courses, and come out to contribute their quota to national development.
He was addressing more than 200 students from senior high and technical schools in the Upper West Region attending classes organized for them by the National Youth Authority (NYA) Secretariat.
The Municipal Chief Executive applauded the NYA for the initiative, and advised the students to lead exemplary lives in their various communities.
Mr. Sulemana Mumuni, Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, said the Secretariat was mandated by the National Redemption Council Decree Act 241 of 1974, to deal with students when they were out of school.
He said, the NYA was working hard to engage these students academically, and keep them to their books at all times to help avoid immoral acts associated with students.
Mr. Mumuni urged parents and guardians to encourage their wards to attend the classes which were being organized free of charge.
Miss Abubakari ati, a form two student said she would have forgotten most of the subjects taught in school, but for the classes, and urged her colleagues at home to also make good use of this opportunity.
