Two minors drown in stagnant water

Two minors, all boys, died over the weekend after they went to wash down in a stagnant water body at a village called Tintari near Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The boys, identified as Michael Gyan, 13 years and a class five pupil as well as Anthony Akwasi also 13 years and a class three pupil.

Mr. Gyan, father of one of the deceased, told Atinka News that the boys, who were three in number, had gone to the water body to wash their feet after they were sent to take water to their mother who was working on her farm in the village.

According to Mr. Gyan, the children abandoned their earlier intention to wash their feet and decided to swim instead. The third boy, Richard Owusu however, refused to join them.

They however, could not swim back to the banks as they went very deep and got drowned, he stated.

The bodies of the deceased were pulled from the water by personnel from the Police and Fire Services.
