Electoral disputes to reduce – Political Scientist

A Political Scientist, Dr. Bonsu Osei Owusu says the ruling National Democratic Congress’ adoption of a broader electoral base for its upcoming Congress, will minimize cases of dispute.

“This will help to reduce monecracy in politics. It will also cut down excessive expenditure in electoral process – because what this means is that, now anybody sitting somewhere who think he/she can influence delegates with money will advise his/herself.”

Owusu who described the move by the NDC as ‘the best way of intensifying democracy in politics’ added that the complaints which normally characterized the party’s electoral process will be reduced greatly.

Contributing to a discussion on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM Friday, he said:

“….. Now in such instances if the party is not careful, they will not get the real party members to represent the party’s interest in parliament, because is an open opportunity for all.”

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah says the move is to allow all card bearing members take part in the democratic process of choosing its national leaders.
